You get to see some of the most breathtaking landscapes that the Western Himalayas can offer. The scenery gets more stark and barren as you climb up to the 16,500 ft high Baralacha La the second mountain pass on this journey. From this pass, beautiful views of meadows and snow-capped mountains can be seen.

The initial smooth going track becomes tougher when you ascend as it is full of boulders and stones but it is certainly worth the ride. From the pass, you will see the Indus valley’s seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range in the south, and the giant peaks of Saser massif in the north.

Later, you will arrive in Nubra Valley which is popularly known as the valley of flowers. The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 ft. above sea level.

Upon arrival in Nubra, check in at the camp in Hunder

Day 7 : Nubra Valley - Leh

After an early breakfast, drive to Hunder.

Hunder is a place in Leh where you get an opportunity to ride on a bacterian camel (double humped). Between Hunder and Diskit, you come across sand dunes besides the road. It is indeed a strange sight to see sand dunes and camels as immediately on the left of the road is the Rocky Mountains that characterize the Ladakhi landscape and in the distance can be seen snow-capped mountains.

While returning, visit Diskit which is the headquarter town of Nubra Valley. It is famous for 515 years old Buddhist Monastery, lying magnificently situated on a hilltop, facing the entire valley.

Later you will drive back to Leh in the late afternoon via Khardungla Top. On arrival, check in to the hotel and enjoy rest of the day at leisure.

Day 8 : Leh - Pangong Tso (140 kms)

Today, you will head towards Pangong Lake.

En route, visit Shey Palace, which was the ancient capital of Ladakh. You will then visit Druk Padma Karpo School, which is a location used in the famous Bollywood movie, 3 Idiots. Continue driving through a picturesque landscape and reach Thikseyan, an impressive structure rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village. Ascend the height of the world's third highest motorable pass, Chang la, over landslide prone area and wayward mountain streams that are known to change their course at will.

One of the toughest water crossings on this route is near the lake. It is a real challenge for man and machine! But once you get to the lake, you will forget about the rough ride, the maniacal streams and the cold, to find such a huge expanse of calm blue water at that altitude! It’s definitely worth the ride. The Pangong Tso (lake of great hollowness) is almost 130 Km long and 06 to 07 Km wide, extending east to west at a height of 14000 Ft.
